map about the distribution of Gazella dorcas

“Dorcas gazelle is a generalist, occuring from coastal plains and desert depressions up to about 2,000 m a.s.l. in the Hoggar Mountains. It disappeared from the Atlas mountains and Mediterranean coastal areas around the 1950s. Though its overall distribution remained intact, its numbers were reduced at least by half in the following decades, due to motorized hunting, and, to a lesser extent, habitat degradation. The species has disappeared from those areas accessible to motorized vehicles. Dorcas gazelle are nomadic, showing relatively small-scale movements to follow the availability of pasture (Smith 1998).”
