Klaus Riede
I studied zoology and biocybernetics at the Universities of Frankfurt and Tuebingen. After graduation in zoology I worked at the Max-Planck-Institute for behavioural physiology, Tuebingen, on rainforest grasshopper biology in South America. From 1991 to 1997 I worked as research assistant at the University of Freiburg, subsequently at the Center for Development Research, University of Bonn, in cooperation with the Zoological Museum Koenig, where I developed the Global Register of Migratory Species (www.groms.de) and the DORSA (www.dorsa.de) Orthoptera project. As a retired scientist I continue to work on insect bioacoustics, mainly working with Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM). research topics are biodiversity informatics and geographical information systems, and their application for conservation.
