Intra-African migrant. Adults migrate through E & C Zaire in Nov-Dec, returning in Jul-Aug, then with
immatures, suggesting migration to and from breeding grounds. Non-breeders in S Zaire, Rwanda and other
parts of E Africa in Jul-Dec. Nigerian breeding birds have been shown to store fat before leaving breeding
grounds. Outside breeding season, occurs in flocks of 30 birds, maximum 100. (del Hoyo J, Elliott
