Migratory and seasonal in Australia, where appears first on N coast; passage migrant through Torres Strait.
Occurs in Northern Territory Oct-Apr. Rare in Queensland in Sept-Apr, though numbers winter in N Cape York
Peninsula and Torres Strait region. Occurs in New Guinea in all months, but is not known to breed there; these
involve mainly non-breeding birds from Australia. Vagrant New Zealand and New Caledonia.
