Verbreitungskarte von Rallina eurizonoides Resident and migrant in India, moving at beginning and end of SW monsoon; birds arrive on W coast of Sri Lanka from India in Oct-Nov, spend a few days in lowlands and then move up to winter in hills, leaving Mar- Apr. Migrant Malaysia; winter visitor Sumatra (Nov and Mar-May) and occasionally W Java; resident Ryukyu Is, Se China, Taiwan and Lanyu I, some Palau birds possibly migrant visitors. Moves almost entirely at night, often flying in to houses when attracted by lights. Race telmatophila straggles to E Himalayas (Nepal, West Bengal, Bhutan) and eurizonoides to W Micronesia.   (del Hoyo J, Elliott A, Sargatal J (eds), 1996)
