Probably an intra-African migrant that moves N after breeding. In Nigeria, undertakes seasonal movements, but
not well understood; recorded in Ghana from Dec to mid-May; moves N in Sudan to breed before rainy season.
In E Africa, movements not understood, but may include non-breeding visitors to Kenya from S tropics, mostly
Dec-May; in Zaire, absent May-Jul in NE, present in S in dry season May-Nov, with marked passage in Apr and
May. Present in Botswana Sept-Apr; influx to E Botswana Jan-Mar 1994, following wet summer. Influx to
Zimbabwe between Apr and Jun after rains. Overwinters locally in South Africa. Sometimes in small parties, e.g.
