Larus glaucescens

Some birds remain on territory all winter, but most move S; some wander S of Bering Sea into open N Pacific. Alaskan birds move S ahead of ice margin. 1st-year birds migrate further (up to 2000 km), some reaching Baja California. Stragglers reach coast of China.
