Buteo auguralis

Regular annual N-S migration in W Africa, moving S in Sept just after rains to breed along forest edge and woodland adjoining Guinea and Upper Congo forests. At recommencement of rains in Mar moves N into drier, more open savamma, where little studied. Movements in C & NE Africa not as obvious or well understood; possibly separate population in N Angola and SW Zaire.
