Verbreitungskarte von Oxyura vittata Partially migratory; southernmost populations birds leave breeding grounds to winter in more temperate regions, occurring as far N as central Brazil and Paraguay. Other populations chiefly sedentary, with only small-scale movements. Occasionally subject to wide-range dispersions in severe drought conditions.   (del Hoyo J, Elliott A, Sargatal J (eds), 1992)
