After nesting on large Nigerian rivers in April-June, the birds disperse rapidly, a few travelling upstream on
River Niger to 10 N (where there are records in August-September) but most moving south into the rainforest
zone, coastal mangrove and (in Ghana) coastal savannas, where they arrive in late June and remain until early
April. They are particularly common in the forest zone from September to March. Rosy Bee-eaters are found all
year on upper Congo River (although they are not known to breed there) and are partially migratory on the lower
Congo, moving to the coast where they breed at Malimba in May-August and Gambia up to October.
