In S Africa, non-breeding visitor as far as Mozambique. In Australia, non-breeding birds disperse N to
Queensland, and along coast; accidental on N coast and in interior. Some N movement of New Zealand birds,
but many remain near breeding grounds. Falkland birds are resident, but disperse widely around the islands,
while some of those from S South America migrate N to winter with their subtropical counterparts. Birds remain
in Antarctica throughout year, frequenting open water away from pack ice. (del Hoyo J, Elliott A,
