Mainly sedentary. Birds breeding in extreme S (Tierra del Fuego) move an unknown distance N After breeding.
Some birds occur N to extreme N Peru and also to NE Argentina and probably Uruguay, but origins of such
birds unknown, and patterns of such movement unclear. Recorded in Juan Fernández Is, 800 km off Chilean
