Birds from E portion of breeding range migrate through Korean Peninsula: several hundred birds overwinter in
the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea; as many as 2100 birds continue S to Kyushu, S Japan,
where they join the main wintering population of G. monacha. About 3000 birds from W portion of
breeding range migrate across C & E China to wintering grounds in Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui and Jiangsu
