Verbreitungskarte von Fratercula corniculata Winters largely offshore adjacent to breeding areas in areas of open water; widespread over continental shelf at relatively low densities. post breeding dispersal Sept-Oct, with N populations from Chukchi and Bering Seas mostly moving S to at least Aleutians, some remaining farther N at Commander and Pribilof Is; S populations more sedentary, including large numbers overwinter in Gulf of Alaska, but significant numbers move S to C Japan, and more regularly to S British Columbia and Washington, even to Oregon and California. In General, timing and pattern of movements poorly known, but main spring influx occurs late Apr to mid-May throughout breeding range.   (del Hoyo J, Elliott A, Sargatal J (eds), 1996)
