Largely sedentary, with wide-ranging nomadic movements. Most birds from coastal parts of Victoria, Australia,
move inland for breeding season. In New Zealand, during winter birds move from exposed coasts towards wet
inland areas. Post-breeding dispersal towards S Wallacea, Mar-Oct, e.g. common in Lombok, Flores and
Sumbawa. Accidental in Cococ (Keeling) Is, Sulawesi, Tonga, Macquarie I. (del Hoyo J, Elliott
