NE populations (subrufinus) migratory, passing through C China in May and again in Aug-Sept, and wintering
in S & SE China; vagrant in Korea (last record 1933). Altitudinal movements in Tibet, moving down to 1500m
after breeding; possibly some similar movements in Nepal, down to 2000m outside breeding season.
