Verbreitungskarte von Charadrius tricollaris Essentially resident, showing some erratic movements, but movements poorly known; more widespread during non-breeding season, making use of temporary pools. Records of apparently non-breeding birds from Nigeria and Cameroon in dry season (Aug-Feb) suggest that long movement s occur, in Ethiopia only present Mar-Apr and Jul-Dec; in E Zaire and Rwanda, numbers increase in Mar; in S Africa, movements complex, seeming to depend on rains.   (del Hoyo J, Elliott A, Sargatal J (eds), 1996)
