Spring and autumn migrations poorly known, as are details of winter range. Generally winters at sea and along
coast from Pribilofs and Aleutians (Bering Sea) S to N Japan (Hokkaido) and S California. Most birds from
British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and Kuril Is remain near breeding grounds during winter; those from
California and Alaska move N and S, respectively. Main migration periods likely Oct and Mar.
