Race velox migratory, especially from taiga, moving S to Panama; most other races seemingly resident; dark
individuals, similar to perobscurus, found outside breeding range suggesting that this race may wander. Juvenile
females of velox start autumn migration in late Aug, before young males or adults; migration ends by late Oct.
Spring migration Mar-Jun, depending on latitude. Winter movement occurs from high to lower altitudes.
