Adults generally fairly sedentary, with some dispersive movements. Pre-moult period 17 days spent at sea in
vicinity of colony, storing up reserves of fat. Post-breeding dispersal of juveniles mostly in pelagic zone; several
juveniles from Crozet Is sighted at Marion I, c. 1000 km away. Feeding area c. 80-418 km from colony, when
chicks small, 77-902 km, when large. Vagrant to Australia, New Zealand and S Africa. (del Hoyo
