Very little known of migratory movements. Autumn exodus occurs in Sept, but winter range poorly documented.
Believed to be pelagic, remaining largely with in ice-free waters of breeding range except for movements SW to
Japan and SE into Gulf of Alaska (Kodiak I region). Birds concentrated into flocks, often in large numbers, up to
15,000 birds, at predictably food-rich offshore locations. Reoccupation of colony areas begins in Mar through
May, with first landings from late Apr (Aleutians) to early Jun (St. Lawrence I). (del Hoyo J,
