Migration: interoceanic transequatorial

Verbreitungskarte von Puffinus griseus Transequatorial migrant, moving into N Pacific (where more abundant) and N Atlantic. Large numbers first head into NW sector of respective ocean, then progressively move E following prevailing winds to reach W coasts of N America and Europe late in local summer; many thus complete wide loop before returning to breeding islands.
